The first in a new series of spotlights on our NCGO officers features Mrsbillwolf1!

Mrsbillwolf1 (Celeste) is a wonderful person, friend, geocacher and a pretty darn good cook too! Tireless in her efforts and always willing to help (or take charge!) she is much appreciated. August Cacher Profile

The August Cacher Profile is now available and features Geo13!

Geo13 has cached in more countries than many of us have or will ever visit. Paul and Dot have cached in every state and completed an amazing number of Delorme challenges. No distance or terrain seems to be too much for them. Read the article to learn more about this friendly couple.

2008 T-shirt Available for Pre-Order

We are excited to announce that the sales for the official NCGO T-shirt have begun. The new winning design was created by Laineybug, our Western Regional VP, and features the different caches on the greatest hits list arranged and designed to represent our great state. We are offering short sleeve, cotton T-shirts in three colors: white, navy blue, and ash. You can pre-order the shirts in the NCGO store, via the link on the left side of the page, and pick them up at a local event, from your Regional VP, or at the Fall Fling.

Please order your shirts by September 2, so we will have plenty of time to have them printed and distributed to the VP’s for pick up in mid-September. After September 2nd, we will close the store, so be sure to act fast and buy your shirt today! Also, please add which region you would like to pick up the shirts in the special notes field in PayPal, that way we know where to send your shirt.

We have also added a PayPal donation link in the store if you would like to make an extra donation to the NCGO. This is entirely voluntary, and all proceeds will be used to help fund the Fall Fling and other statewide events.

July Cacher Profile

NCTreker is well known around this part of the country for his challenging cache hides, down-to-earth personality and gosh darn good looks. But just in case you haven't had the great pleasure of meeting him in person, this interview will help you get to know him until you finally have the opportunity to meet the man himself.

Message from the NCGO Board of Directors

With the election of a new slate of NCGO officers, we’d like to take a moment to recognize the efforts and dedication of our organization’s first executive committee. These folks stepped up to serve NCGO and its membership during the group’s infancy, and we would certainly not have come as far as we have without their energy, commitment, and leadership. During the first executive committee’s tenure our group managed to secure and host GW5 and to establish some great NCGO traditions such as the Fall Fling and the state-wide CITO effort. We’ve created both a state-wide Cache Rescue Mission and Greatest Hits list. NCGO is starting to be recognized within our prospective communities thanks to some excellent outreach efforts. Most important, we’ve created a comfortable virtual home where cachers from all over NC and beyond can chat, share ideas, or plan a cache outing. We’ve come a long way since 2005!

It’s the work of these fine people that created the strong foundation upon which we now stand as an organization and a community. So, to our out-going executive committee - BRAVO and THANKS! It’s been an honor to work with each of you.

June Cacher Profile

The June Cacher Profile is now available and features ncbiscuit!

ncbiscuit lives in Durham and is an active and well traveled cacher. Many may remember that she put together one of the most successful and talked about cache runs ever organized for a GeoWoodstock event last year when NCGO hosted GW5. People were still talking about her kayak run at this years GW event in California. Linda and her dog Biscuit are quite a pair and have an interesting story to tell so read on!

May Cacher Profile

The May Cacher Profile is available and features OzGuff!

OzGuff lives in the beautiful Asheville area of our state. He has hidden a staggering number of geocaches representing all types from simple park and grabs to challenging hikes. Oz has helped to grow geocaching in the Mountain region and even built a geocaching-friendly relationship with the Asheville Chamber of Commerce. He truly cares about geocaching and NCGO, manages to both hide and find loads of quality caches, may be your guide if you are in the area and even manages to stir the occasional pot! I think you will enjoy learning a little bit more about OzGuff so read on!

After a 3 year run, the NCGO T-Shirt design (created by the Fraygirls) was retired in April of 2008.

2008 NCGO Elections

NCGO now elects officers each year for terms that run from July 1 through June 30. The nomination period for 2008 is May 1 through May 30 (not May 31st). The elections will be held June 1 through the June 15 with winners being announced shortly after.
